Sport is a precious dog.  He was found by one of our volunteers, living on the streets.  Very affectionate, he is also very energetic and lively.  In case you missed my code, that means that he needs some training.  OK, all puppies need training, some just need it a bit more than others!  Sport has the advantage of being very smart and anxious to please, so I think that he will be an absolute joy for his family!

Foster Update 01/16:  Sport has been through some major transformations since the first day we brought him home. We never thought we would see the day that he would just lie down and relax, however, the day finally did come. We were told that he was food aggressive towards humans as well as dogs so we immediately tried to tackle that issue. We started feeding him by hand to pace him, and so he would get used to the human hand around his food and he has done wonderful. In fact, as of last night he was able to receive his nightly snack in the same room with the other three dogs without a problem. He is very much a puppy still so we went to the pet store and got a nylabone for incessant chewers. He loves it. We started leash training recently too and the first walk started out horrendous, but he seemed to catch on extremely quickly! He is very motivated by the treats.

While at home he loves to be by your side at all times. If you're sitting on the couch he likes to put his front paws on your lap and rest his head on your legs. He is so loving and willing to do pretty much anything to please you. When you tell him no, he gets that sad "I'm sorry" look in his eyes. However, the other day we had balloons in the house for my birthday and he was very scared of them.

He is 100% crate trained and we are perfecting his house manners at the moment. It continues to be a work in progress. Overall he has been a wonderful dog full of love to share with anyone and everyone.

Foster Update 02/10:  Sport has a high prey drive so he would do best placed in a home without a cat. He gets a little carried away at the sight of them. I would also recommend that he be in a home without small children only for the simple fact that he's a big dog with a lot of energy, and he tends to not have complete control of his body at all times. He would be fine in a house with another dog as long as they are relatively the same size and VERY submissive AND there is a VERY STRONG HUMAN pack leader.  Otherwise, he would probably do better in a home with no other pets.

If you're looking for a cheap easy way to please him, just open the freezer and pull out an ice cube and he's all ears. He thinks it's the best treat ever. He learned the commands "easy" when you give him a treat so he doesn't bite your hand off as well as "leave it" if he's getting into something he's not supposed to. He responds very well to these commands as well.
