Kachina was adopted from us two years ago but was recently returned.

Have you ever heard that black male cats are the most affectionate cats?  After fostering this guy, I'd have to agree opinion.

Volunteer Update 11.25.11: Since I was his foster mom several years ago, I was anxious to see him again after his return to PRBJ.  Upon my first visit with him, he seemed to have the same endearing personality that he did as a kitten.  Him and his siblings were always pretty talkative.  They also are 'hand-butters' when looking for a little love.  Yep, he still had that wonderful behavior!  When in the open cat room and given kind of a cold welcome from one of the cats, Kachina did not respond at all.  Kachina was more interested in exploring all of the heights in the cat room.  He is still so handsome.

Kachina is so full of energy; yet, he also wants to be on your lap.  He's mischievious but loveable.  OH!  And, sometimes when I'm sleeping I will feel this gentle nibble on my ear - not a bite but a nibble.  I always know it's him!  In the dark, how does he know where my ear is located??  Oh, and did I mention the low rumble of a purr this guy has??  As I type, he is talking "at" me and head-butting my arm for affection.

Kachina means "Sacred Dancer Spirit" in Native American Hopi language.

03.30.09 Foster Update:
This little guy is very sweet. His sisters might think otherwise! He outweighs them a bit and is usually the one initiating the pouncing on them. They take it pretty good though.

He's got a beautiful black coat with dark blue-grey eyes. He is a purrer!

04.05.09 Foster Update:
I've introduced the Shima (mama's name) kitties to dogs. They are great with them. We're talking 45-65 lb dogs!

Sometimes I just lay on the floor and let all four of the kittens crawl around on me - which they love to do. It's kind of like getting a massage. So, if you like massages you might want to consider adopting all four kittens!

04.17.09 Foster Update:
Kachina, the only boy of the siblings, tends to be the mischievious one!  He will pounce on his sisters (whether they want to play at the time or not).  Even at this point, he outweighs them by a pound or so.  Kachina tends to be a "ball of fire" with his sister, Yazhi.  They love pouncing and wrestling!  There is a photo of them laying together resting after playing.  Also, look how much these kittens love each other...there is a photo of all four of them laying all over each other.

05.23.09 Foster Update:  These kittens have not been with me for several weeks.  Everytime I went into the Center, I would go see them.  It amazes me how they continue to be very close to each other.  They love nothing more than to be cuddled up with each other (unless there is a human available).  I'm trying desperately to have access to my keyboard right now but two of them want to lay on my lap and prevent me from reaching the keyboard.

Kachina is a very sweet and handsome little boy - and curious  He loves to play - and be with his people.  He, too, still loves to lay around with his sisters.  Kachina is not "just a black kitten".  He is a beautiful with a silky, black coat.  Anyone who adopts these Shima mommy kitties will be very glad they did.  She did such a great job with them.

05.29.09 Foster Update:  I've had these little ones intemittently since they were weaned from mama.  I recently discovered, this little guy is not "just a black kitten".  He is a beautiful black kitten with one white whisker and a tuft of white fur on his chest!

I think what amazes me about these four is how much they continue to love each other.  They would love to do nothing than to lay all over each other (unless, of course, they are on my lap).  I came home from work today to them.  They could have all had their own room but, nope, they are all on the same pillow snuggled up together.

07.03.08 Foster Update:  Kachina is such an affectionate little boy.  He is definitely the instigator of the four of them.  He wants to play all of the time.  But, when he is not playing he wants to be on your lap looking up at you with love. That is the only problem is that I don't have four laps for them to lay on and four sets of hands with which to pet them!  Everyday they look at me in wonder about when they are going to get their forever home.  I have no idea why these four beautiful kittens are still available.  They are beautiful physically and their personalities match the physical beauty.

08.21.09 Foster Update:  Kachina's position of the instigator of the siblings has been taken over a bit by his sister.  Kachina has become this attention seeking boy.  He will head-butt me or whatever he has to do to get my attention...then will just settle-in right beside me like he did tonight.  I just know whoever gives this little boy his forever home will not regret it!

08.29.09 Foster Update:  Kachina and his sister LOVE to play.  Also, Kachina has taken to standing at the sliding glass door and jumping vertically at the door!  I'm not sure if there is something out there that I cannot see but he will do this 5-6 times consecutively.  When he grows up, he may be a basketball player.  He has about a 4 foot vertical jump!

09.06.09 Foster Update:  Kachina LOVES my one dog!  You can see them together in one of the photos. So a few minutes ago, I'm sitting here at the computer...Kachina gets up from his nap, talking, etc.  He comes over to me.  I patted my lap.  He got on my lap.  I turned him over and held him like a baby (a big one!) for a few minutes.  I put him down.  I guess he was not done with the attention.  I was not watching him but he walks over and lays at my older dogs back.  I'm said, "Kachina, that's not the right dog."  Chance can be snippy but she was fine.  He then walks over and rubs in Jake's face as he always does.  The rest is illustrated in the photo.

10.18.09 Foster Update:  Kachina continues to be "the boy" in the household.  He is usually the one that initiate playing with the others (although since they are older they may not consider it "playing" but rather that he is being a pest.)  He seems to like to know where I am but there are also times when he doesn't care and just wants to be playing.  I will gather up all of the kitty toys at some point in the evening and throw the toys so he and his sister can jump for them and run after them.

After working on the computer awhile, I will look around and he is laying in the doorway just appearing comfortable to be "near".

11.15.09 Foster Update:  What can I say about this black kitten curled up in my lap and purring?  He just situates himself and looks up at me.  He continues to nudge my hand if he wants happens to want 'more' attention.  He loves to play also!  I'm surprised that I he is still in my foster care.  I guess when you are a black kitten or cat - your wonderful and unique personality characteristics tend to get overlooked.
