Softie is the sweetest girl! She is a happy girl who just wants to be the center of attention. She is little ball of energy and loves to play. She likes to chase toys in the backyard and play with her buddy Dobby. She also loves to cuddle with you is very friendly and loving.
Softie is selective about her doggie friends.
July 16th DOG 4 A DAY UPDATE
It was such a pleasure having
Softie
yesterday for the Dog for a Day program. I have attached some pictures I took.
We went to my daughter's house and she got along so well with my 17 month old granddaughter. She also got along with my daughter's 13 year old black lab Buddy. At my daughter's house she has a huge fenced in yard and
Softie
loved running through the yard at full steam and playing with her toy. After play time we took a break and hung out for a little in the screening in porch. She had no issues getting along with any new people she met. The only time she barked all day was when we were at my daughter's house and my son-in-law started the hedge trimmer. After visting there we went to Downtown Winter Garden and had lunch at an outdoor restaurant. We walked right down the patio where all the tables were and other dogs and she behaved perfectly. Anybody that asked if they could pet her she openly welcomed the affection. There were a group of about 6 kids playing right near where we were sitting and she never even showed interest in them she was a complete angel. When my daughter invited her on her lap for hugs she obliged and gave lots of kisses. After lunch we went to my home where I have 3 cats. My cats hide when anyone other than immediate family is there so we didn't see them the entire time we were there that is until we were leaving. My one cat decided she wanted to come out of hiding to see

. They were about 4 feet from each other and just stared at each other but

never made a move toward the cat or even barked at it. We then left the house. However, while we were at my house we worked on some training and she followed the commands of sit and down every time. She also was getting the hang of leave it. I would put a milk bone on the ground and have her sit and then say leave it and she wouldn't go for it until I gave her the motion and command to go ahead. She didn't have any accidents in my house or my daughter's. I made sure to take her outside every hour to see if she had to go.

was at ease riding in the car and on the way back from our day together she fell asleep on back seat. If I could have a dog right now I would adopt
Softie
in a heart beat. I would definitely take her out again for the Dog for a Day program if she is available. I'm hoping she soon finds her forever home though. Whoever would adopt her will be one lucky family.
Her behaviors included:
She walked well on a leash
Had high energy when playing but able to be calm at other times
Great around all people and dogs
Eager to follow commands
She did jump up at some people when they showed her attention and wanted to love on her
She rode well in the car
Comfortable laying beside me on the couch
Camp Update: Softie is doing so well at camp. Take a look at all her photos and you will see that she is having a blast! Her camper, Ayla, reports that she is doing great learning sit and loose leash walking, she is working on crate training exercises and stay ~ she has learned so much! She loves to play with toys, run around and be petted and loved on. She doesn't like going outside when it is raining.
Ayla says Softie is smart, sweet, fun to play with and a fast learner!!
Info from Softie's foster mom:
Softie is not 100% reliable on housetraining, but getting close - she never has accident in the crate (she is crated when her foster is not home) She said she potty's outside most of the time, but does have an occasional accident.
Since she is just past the puppy stage, she is still a chewer - and lots of chews and toys are a must!!
Softie is one lucky pup! She is attending Camp Doglando from Monday, June 19 to Friday, June 30! This is a fabulous camp where kids, train shelter dogs to get them ready for their new homes.
They will learn loose leash walking, sit, stay, down, they will go swimming and on field trips to outdoor restaurants and more! Dogs from PRBJ have gone to Camp Doglando for years and it is amazing how much they learn in a short period of time!
