This beautiful dog was adopted and then returned to the shelter because he has a lot of energy. He is just so excited about being around people! Per his last owner, he is very smart and eager to please. He is potty trained, walks well on a short leash, and has good house manners. While he is still a chewer, he stops once he is given a toy or bone. They did not have him around other dogs, but he plays in the yard with another dog at the shelter. 

Merlin would benefit greatly in a home with a pool and a big back yard to run around in. He really is a great, but misunderstood dog. Dog 4 A Day Outing Reports: 
"Merlin was so much fun to have for the day! He enjoyed playing in the water and relaxing on rafts. Merlin loved to play fetch, and never failed to retrieve a ball. He loved to go on walks, and was very excited to be outside. Merlin did pull a lot on his leash, so he needs some training to help him stop pulling. However, his pulling was very useful for skateboard rides. He loved to pull us around on a skateboard! Merlin should be kept in a home that has lots of space for him to run around, and a family who is willing to exercise him frequently. He never begged for food, or try to grab food off of our table. Merlin was also very good with our small Pomeranian. Overall, Merlin was a fun and loving dog."

"Merlin was a joy to have. He was very calm for the most part, especially in the car. He was not lazy, however, as he enjoyed playing fetch outside and he wouldn’t need a big yard. He also loved to be around the water and liked swimming in the pool. When we were introducing him to our pool, Merlin would stick his face under water in order to try to find the next step into the water. He also enjoyed playing with the hose. When we took him for a walk, however, he pulled on his leash with a lot of force. Though he would need training for walking on a leash, Merlin never barked once while we had him. Overall, he loved to play and was very energetic, but he also didn’t mind taking breaks to rest."

"Merlin is a very energetic dog. A sweetheart from the start, he happily greeted us and would cuddle up in the car rides to and from our destination. He has a little trouble understanding his size and would assume the role of lap dog but it adds to his sweetness. He is FULL of energy and requires someone who shares a love for some outdoor time ! Great to run and play with, he will pace you for the most part. At times he can become a little curious in nearby distractions while walking, but never barked or growled. He was happy to meet new canine friends, big and small! Overall Merlin is a big cute baby who will certainly bring joy to his next home whoever should be so lucky!!! Thank you for letting us take him out!"
