This little dog was found as a stray and taking to a high kill shelter. We pulled her in hopes of getting him a wonderful home. She appears to be crate trained and is good with our volunteers. We can cat-test her if needed. Bindi is heartworm positive, but that should not deter you in adopting her.  We use the slow kill method and it has been proven very effective. At the time of adoption, we also will supply you with 6 months of heart worm prevention medication.

Foster Update 10/24/16 :
We have been fostering Bindi for a couple of weeks now. She has continued to be a very loving and happy companion.

Things we've noticed: She Really loves to go for walks. We walk her a few times a day along with play time in the fenced yard. She walks really well on the leash. We have been teaching her to heel and she is really starting to understand and is catching on. She does NOT try to chase cars or bicycles. She loves to follow us around in the house... she likes to be where ever we are. One of her favorite times of day is when we sit on the couch at night and turn on the TV... she likes to snuggle in with us and get belly rubs. We have not heard her snore so if she does it must be very quiet. She loves to go for rides in the car... you don't need to pick her up because when you open the door she jumps right in.

And a cute side note: she's the only dog we've ever had that sits down to eat... very cute! She is ready for her forever home!

-Bindi is a very happy sweet dog

-She is very submissive and listens well

-She is house and crate trained

Foster Update 10/12/2016 :

We’ve had Bindi for a few days now and she is a sweet dog. Like most dogs from the shelter she took a little time to start acting like her normal self but she seems to have adjusted and settled in now. She is very good on walks and walks well on a leash. I would say Bindi is average energy. She is submissive and gentle but still has energy to play (she loves soft chew toys!). She is smart and is picking up our schedule and how we expect her to behave in the house quickly. She is very quick to pick-up commands. Bindi does not bark unless someone knocks on the door or she hears another dog. She was protective of us when there was a knock on the door from a neighbor but as soon as the neighbor came inside she wagged her tail and greeted them. She has met several other people in the neighborhood and seems to really like people.  We have not tested her too much with meeting other dogs in the neighborhood but when she has been close to other dogs she is not aggressive and is more timid, hiding behind one of us.  We have not had her around cats or children yet, so we don’t know how she reacts to them.   She is house trained and crate trained—and has no problem sleeping through the night.  She has no food aggression and is not ruled by food. She tends to wait to eat her food late in the day and usually eats once a day.  She will cuddle on your lap on the couch if you let her—or she is happy laying next to you.  She is the prefect size dog! Not too high not too small.

Bindi is a happy, sweet dog.

Dog 4 A Day UPDATE !

I had the opportunity to spend a fun morning with Bindi. When I picked her up, she hopped right in the car and enjoyed the short ride over to the waterfront park. When walking, she kept a pretty quick pace for someone with such short legs.:-)  When it got hot, we found a little shade and rested under a tree. Bindi rolled herself in the grass to cool off (smart pup). By then it was lunch time and so we went to the Breezeway restaurant. When another much bigger dog enthusiastically tried to make friends, Bindi pulled away but didn’t growl or show any aggression. Our server, Michelle, fell in love with Bindi and brought her ice water and treats, for which Bindi gave kisses in return. When my lunch came, Bindi had perfect table manners, and did not jump up or beg but was very happy when I shared some bacon (yum). As she got more comfortable with me, she rolled over for belly-rubs and eventually jumped on my lap. As we played, she nipped a little in what seemed an affectionate, not aggressive way and when I said no, she stopped. I wished I could take her home but know she will make a terrific canine companion for some lucky person.

(Make sure to check out all of the pictures from her outing at the bottom of the page!)
